## Impact

This rule detects whether the AWS API Gateway has request validation enabled. Request validation is crucial for ensuring that the input parameters of each request to the API Gateway are properly validated, which helps prevent security vulnerabilities such as injection attacks and data breaches.

## How to Fix

*Resource:* aws\_api\_gateway\_method

* *Arguments:* request\_validator\_id

To fix this issue, add the request\_validator\_id argument to the aws\_api\_gateway\_method resource in your Terraform code. This argument configures request validation settings for the API Gateway method. Make sure to specify the required input parameters and their validation requirements.

Secure code example:

## The above code is secure based on the rule because it configures the request\_validator\_id argument in the aws\_api\_gateway\_method resource. \[source,go]

resource "aws\_api\_gateway\_method" "MyDemoMethod" { rest\_api\_id = aws\_api\_gateway\_rest\_api.MyDemoAPI.id resource\_id = aws\_api\_gateway\_resource.MyDemoResource.id http\_method = "GET" authorization = "NONE"

* request\_validator\_id = example.id }

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://cortex-docs.paloaltonetworks.com/appsec-rules/iac-security/public-exposure/appsec2-aws-53.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
