## Impact

Encrypting your disk with a Customer Master Key (CMK) helps protect your data from unauthorized access or tampering. Using a CMK ensures that only authorized users with the correct permissions and access to the key can decrypt and access the data. This encryption method provides enhanced control over your data security, including key rotation, access auditing, and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.

## How to Fix

*Resource:* alicloud\_disk

* *Arguments:* encrypted, kms\_key\_id

To mitigate this issue, ensure the `encrypted` attribute is set to `true` and specify a `kms_key_id` to use a Customer Master Key for disk encryption.

## Example: \[source,go]

resource "alicloud\_disk" "example" { ...

* encrypted = true
* kms\_key\_id = "1234abcd-12ab-34cd-56ef-1234567890ab" # Replace with your CMK ID }

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://cortex-docs.paloaltonetworks.com/appsec-rules/iac-security/storage/appsec-ali-8.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
