# Clear agent database

In cases where your Cortex XDR agent is having issues, you can attempt a reset by clearing the Cortex XDR agent state of one or more endpoints.

{% hint style="info" %}

### Note

Clearing the agent database is supported on all platforms with Cortex XDR agent version 7.9 or later and is available only when using the debugging mode.
{% endhint %}

Clearing the agent database is available only when using the debugging mode, and can be tracked in the **Action Center**.

1. Clear Agent Database
   1. Navigate to **Endpoints** → **All Endpoints** and select one or more endpoints for which you want to clear the database.
   2. **`ALT+Right-Click`**, in macOS **`Option+Right-Click`**, to open the context menu in debugging mode.
   3. Navigate to **Endpoint Control** → **Clear Agent Database**.
2. Track Clear Database Action
   1. Navigate to **Incident Response** → **Response** → **Action Center**.
   2. In the **All Actions** table, filter the **Action Type** field according to **Agent Database Cleanup**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://cortex-docs.paloaltonetworks.com/cortex-xdr-3.x/cortex-xdr-3.x-documentation/endpoint-security/install-and-manage-endpoints/manage-endpoint-protection/clear-agent-database.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
