# Set Up Active Response

Before you begin using Active Response, complete the following set-up tasks:

1. [Configure Automation Integrations](/cortex-xpanse/active-response/set-up-active-response/automation-integrations.md) to enable the Active Response playbook to work with other tools in your security system.
2. [Create Remediation Path Rules](/cortex-xpanse/active-response/set-up-active-response/remediation-path-rules.md) to configure Active Response to perform specific remediation actions in response to specific alerts.
