# Indicator Fields

Indicator fields are used to add specific indicator information to indicators. When you [create a custom indicator field](/cortex-xsoar-6-threat-intel-management-guides/6.14/configure-indicators/indicator-customization/indicator-fields/create-a-custom-indicator-field.md), you can add it to the indicator layout to which you associate the field. You can then [Map Custom Indicator Fields](/cortex-xsoar-6-threat-intel-management-guides/6.14/configure-indicators/indicator-customization/indicator-types/map-custom-indicator-fields.md) to the relevant indicator type. You can also add an [Indicator Field Trigger Script](/cortex-xsoar-6-threat-intel-management-guides/6.14/configure-indicators/indicator-customization/indicator-fields/indicator-field-trigger-scripts.md) that checks for field changes and enables you to automatically take action.
