# Remove a User

Remove a user from Cortex XSOAR 6.14.

In Cortex XSOAR, you can permanently remove a user or temporarily [disable a user](/xsoar-6-administrator-guide/6.14/onboard-cortex-xsoar/users-and-roles/user-management/disable-a-user.md). Users should be permanently removed if they no longer have access to the system.

When you delete users, all their personal information is deleted, including email address, username, phone number, first and last names, and their image. To remove their data from content, such as active incidents and investigations, and automations, you need to clear the user's data.

{% hint style="info" %}

### Note

* You cannot disable or remove the default admin user created at system installation.
* When you remove a user, the user’s API keys are automatically revoked and can no longer be used. Any reports the user has created remain available. Reports are not owned by specific users and can be edited or deleted by other users.
  {% endhint %}

1. Delete the user.
   1. Go to **Settings** → **USERS AND ROLES** → **Users**.
   2. Select the User you want to delete.
   3. Click Remove.

      If the user is a default admin, you need to select Roles and deselect Set as Default Admin.
   4. Confirm that you want to delete the user.
2. To clear the user's data, do one of the following:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://cortex-docs.paloaltonetworks.com/xsoar-6-administrator-guide/6.14/onboard-cortex-xsoar/users-and-roles/user-management/remove-a-user.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
